Premier banjo player Béla Fleck joins musical forces with mandolinist, composer, and vocalist Chris Thile for a must-see performance. Fleck is a powerfully creative force in bluegrass, jazz, pop, and classical music who has single-handedly redefined American banjo music. The recipient of multiple Grammy Awards going back to 1998, Fleck has been nominated for Grammys in more different musical categories than anyone in the award’s history. A child prodigy, Thile rose to fame with acoustic trio Nickel Creek and later joined the progressive acoustic group Punch Brothers. With his broad outlook that encompasses classical, rock, jazz, and bluegrass, this MacArthur Fellowship is slated to become the host of NPR’s “Prairie Home Companion” upon the retirement of Garrison Keillor.
