On Sunday, February 14, Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will present “Masters of the Fiddle,” a high-energy concert of fiddle music by Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy. MacMaster and Leahy are two of the world’s most celebrated fiddlers—and they just happen to be married to each other. At DCA, MacMaster and Leahy will perform the foot-tapping rave-ups, heart-wrenching ballads, and world-class step dancing that have brought audiences to their feet on three continents, including legendary performances by both at DCA.
The Edmonds Beacon calls “Masters of the Fiddle” “a red-hot ticket…world-class fiddle playing.”
Natalie MacMaster is a renowned fiddler and step-dancer from Cape Breton, Canada. Her husband, Donnell Leahy, is a member of the Canadian family band Leahy. Together, they meld their virtuosities into a whirlwind of fiddle-driven music and dance, combining the best of French, Celtic, bluegrass, and Cajun styles and making these traditions their own. They perform with two highly acclaimed pianists, Mac Morin and Erin Leahy.
Natalie MacMaster says of her collaboration with Leahy, “It’s always a treat for the two of us to share our passion in life, which is music, and go out on tour together. This is very much a family affair.”
MacMaster and Leahy will perform at 8 p.m. on Sunday, February 14. Their concert is sponsored by Paul and Francis Burton. Tickets for the concert range from $24 to $48. Advance reservations are recommended and can be made through the DCA box office, located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 12-5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in person, on the phone at (920) 868-2728, or online at www.dcauditorium.org.
