This year, Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will present one of its most wide-ranging and exciting winter lineups to date. With its trademark blend of cozy coffeehouse concerts, enlightening lectures, and complimentary film screenings, the Auditorium’s diverse winter schedule is sure to invigorate Fish Creek during the peninsula’s quiet season.
“I always love putting together DCA’s winter season,” says Cari Lewis, DCA Executive Director. “I think of it as a chance to convert the Auditorium into Door County’s home away from home for a few months. The Auditorium is cozy and comfortable and I enjoy the sense of community that our events create – especially in the winter months.”
Play It Forward for the Holidays
On Saturday, December 19 at 7 p.m., DCA will present its third Play It Forward concert, an annual event that brings some of Door County’s favorite musicians together to benefit a worthy cause. This year’s lineup includes performances by Pete Thelen, Larry “Thor” Thoreson, Elliot Goettelman, Small Forest, pAt mAcdonald , Nick Hoover and Jess Holland (Death Christmas Folk), Alex Sowinski, Lucy Hagen and Dan Mayhew, Katie Dahl, Ralph Murre, Dirty Deuce, and Ben Larsen. This diverse and talented list of performers will evoke the best of the holidays with traditional favorites, original tunes and poetry, and festive songs of the season.
There is no ticket price for Play It Forward (and seating is first-come, first-served), but freewill donations are encouraged. This year, funds raised at Play It Forward will benefit the GO BO Foundation, a foundation that funds research and supports treatment for children with life-threatening illnesses.
Masters of the Fiddle
In addition to Play It Forward, DCA will feature another mainstage event this winter: on Sunday, February 14 at 8 p.m., DCA presents Masters of the Fiddle, a whirlwind evening of virtuosic fiddle playing and step dancing by husband-wife team Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy. Tickets range from $24-48.
