The 2026 Door County Talks Series, Sponsored by Cynthia and Tom LaConte, will explore the concept of Blue Zones, a term coined and trademarked by Author Dan Buettner. Blue Zones refers to regions in the world where people live to or beyond the age of 100 without the prevalence of degenerative aging diseases prevalent in many parts of the world.
The series, which will comprise four separate speaker events, is free, with donations gladly accepted. Attendees are encouraged but not required to watch the Netflix series, Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones, before attending the events.
Paul Salm, UW-Madison Division of Extension - Door County Office’s Human Development and Relationship Educator, will lead our discussion on Social Connection. In his work with UW-Madison, Salm focuses on lifespan with an emphasis on the county’s aging population and on health and well-being. A former teacher, Salm owns Cornerstone Pub.
