“A unique way of telling the story of climate change and…what the impact of doing nothing has on the Earth in the year 2308.” ~ MKE Independent Film Awards Festival

Climate change is overheating the planet, but Congress is frozen in action. Humanity is caught in the devastating fallout; there is only one chance to change the future - by traveling into the past. Climatologist Anna Jones is researching a massive collapsing glacier in Antarctica; it will drown coastal cities, trigger unprecedented numbers of climate refugees and loss of life, and worse.

Anna’s father is New Jersey Senator Dan Jones; he is pivotal to the success or failure of a key climate bill. The vote is imminent. Powerful factions work against them as the world teeters on the prime tipping point where human behavior, science, and legislation collide. Can Noah Poem, a time-traveling scientist from the future, help stop the madness? Time is running out as science fiction meets science fact. One vote could save humanity.

On Saturday, November 1, at 7 p.m., Door Community Auditorium will host the Door County premiere of Roger Kuhns’ 2024 feature film, Carbon Men Salvation: The Senator’s Dilemma.  Kuhns wrote, directed, and starred in the film, co-producing it with his wife and creative partner, Anne W. Schmidt.  Featuring an original soundtrack, the film – which the team describes as a “Science-docu-Sci-Fi Political Drama”—features local actor Mark Moede, local musicians Mark Paffrath and Marise Redmann, and settings in Jacksonport and The Clearing in Ellison Bay.

Carbon Men Salvation: The Senator’s Dilemma is now screening in various cities as Kuhns and Schmidt conclude the film festival circuit.  The Milwaukee Film Festival gave Mark Moede an honorable mention for his acting in the film.  The film also won Best Soundtrack and Best Song at the International Independent Film Awards. The film has been accepted into 34 film festivals around the country, collecting awards and honorable mentions at many.

Kuhns will introduce the film and host a post-screening talkback. The screening will be a free event, with open seating. The film’s runtime is 1 hour and 39 minutes, and is equivalent to a PG/PG-13 rated film.  Freewill donations will be gladly accepted and designated for the DCA’s Encore Campaign to help fund our Annex project.
